City Palace Udaipur

City Palace Udaipur

City Palace,Udaipur.
Our hotel was great, so following a bit of sightseeing (temple, palace, fort) we headed back earlier than usual to relax. We had dinner in one of the hotel's upper level courtyards while listening to classical instrumental Indian music. The old musician sat cross-legged on a makeshift stage in the center of the courtyard. He reminded us of an Indian version of Ray Charles; he was incredibly talented, blind, and wore a fabulous pair of BluBlockers. Oh and he played the sitar. The sitar is the dominant instrument of Hindustani classical music, made famous in the west by Ravi Shankar and the Beatles. It is mesmerizing and ear-tickling instrument; I could listen to it for hours.
